PLANNING

Planning problem solving: Practical and technical testing, There testing. How realised in FMP piece, Planning and production: All Paperwork
The theory, to rough, to test, to shot.

To begin planning for this project i am going to have to pitch my idea, for this i am going to pitch my idea to members of my target audience so i can get a conversation and feedback with my target audience. Below is pitch and the feedback i was given:

Questions and Feedback

Technical Testing

28/2/19
Today I practiced the setup and breakdown for the shoot,  the purpose of this was to see how the set would look when lit up correctly. The lighting would be worked around the framing of the camera and the positioning of it since we were working with prime lenses. My team an I dropped the backdrop and taped it down so It was secure. Once this was done we worked with the ARRI lights to make sure the backdrop had even light spread across it. The lighting setup you see here uses three lights. I worked on positioning the lights but I struggled to get a strong light for the backdrop. It took me around 5 minutes of playing with the lights to notice it wasn't the lights but the apreature on the camera that needed adjusting. I then adjusted this to fit the scene.

Today I was shooting with the interviewees. My job was to setup the lighting and setup all the audio and check all this to make sure that it is all up to my standard.

Test Shoot(8/4/19)-Shoot Date(13/4/19)

When preparing for this shoot i decided to have multiple days in which i do technical shooting, this would be for each location. The first location i looked at was my house. For this i wanted to make sure i knew what the houses lights looked like on camera mixed with the natural light bleed from the windows. Here are the images captured:
When i was taking these photos i was looking at which ISO's would work best for this environment for the post production color grade.

What i found from this test shoot is what lighting is that the lighting is very yellow and for this i am going to have to use blue jells on the lights to level the color to get clearest image from the camera in low light scenarios. What this lighting offers me though when shooting is good bokeh. It will make my shots look more cinematic by adding more to the way i compose my shots as it will add unique light formation if out of focus. It will also give me room for error in the way i light my subjects as it can explain light sources in the scene. In terms of natural light there are no curtains which shouldn't be major factor since the shoot will take place once it is already dark. The set will be perfect for what i am wanting to make.

The paperwork for this shoot is below:

Shoot 2(10/5/19)
After my first shoot failed since my actors couldn't get to the location on this day i am now going to make my peice in a different location and change the narrative loosely from a movie night to a movie club. This will also play into the general idea of my piece  being a parody. Here is the paperwork for this shoot.

Shoot 3-Final shoot Day(17/5/19)

This shoot is going to be the final shoot since my last shoot was a test shoot to find problems with the location which we found was a the noise we made during shooting which raised problems with nearby rooms and staff. This shoot is going to be  done in the same location but now all have been made aware of what is happening and we have approval to shoot on this day.

Script

The script below uses the Todorov Narrative Theory. The Todorov Narrative Theory uses 5 steps, Equilibrium, problem, realisation of the problem, problem solved, new equilibrium. You can see how this is used in the script I wrote, the beginning equilibrium is the intro sequence which is showing a friendship. I then cuts to the group discussing how which film is going to be picked next which is the problem. The realisation of the problem was when one gets up from the table and goes to making the  They then break out into a brawl in which only one survives which is the problem being solved. The film ends with a new norm which is the ending of the film with only one character getting in a car and leaving. This shows how I have implement this theory in my film. The reason why I have chosen this narrative theory for my film is because the duration of the piece itself.

Storyboard

The choices I have made shot wise in my storyboard have been made since the idea of my piece is to use the same shot composition of the films I am referencing in this film as you can see below from the main sequence I have which is from Die Hard(1988).

I understand it is important to set and aim to achieve a target during each session.  This Target Plan is my responsibility and it is to be brought to every lesson.
If progress with targets is not achieved, lunchtime catch-up sessions will be arranged, failure to attend these will result in disciplinary action.

SMART
What I am going to do from 11-12 is schedule how I am going to attack my research for the next two days.
I am going to need to gather primary research and begin collecting it. I am also going to write a schedule for organising the secondary research I already have.
In order to do this successfully I am going to plan it by making a time schedule which I have to complete the tasks which I set out to do.
I am going to look into interview theory to see what I can apply to my primary datacollection techniques.

What I am going to do today is reschedule my shoot since the two previous shoots aren't

13What I am going to focus on for today is to finish all paperwork so I when I shoot tomorrow(2/5/19) I will have all of the paperwork so I am able to shoot my film accurately and with purpose rather than improvising shots and scenes.
What this will do I make my piece more structured and have a clear plot. ti will also make the edit easier as the assets will match the shots used.

  1. Where is your documentation for your piece? This will show the connection from research range of sources to your film.
